Description

A small and rather private beach that enjoys stunning white sandy shores and pale blue ocean waters rushing in, Sandy Bay Beach is one of Hout Bay’s most wonderful assets, also easily accessible from Llandudno and Cape Town city and a short drive from many exciting tourist destinations and holiday villages. What makes Sandy Beach unique is that it is a nudist beach and merely getting to the beach itself involves a fair bit of effort. There are two ways to get the beach, one is by clambering over rocks from the car park area on the Southern end of Llandudno, while the alternative is to enjoy a 20 minute walk from the other car park on the Northern end of Hout Bay.

Both car parks are pretty small and doesn’t allow for too many people, leaving only one other solutions which is to park further away and walk further to get here. Enjoying a beautiful and idyllic setting with the Twelve apostles overhead, rebels of society enjoy the otherworldly experience of visiting this nude beach – go free and natural, and maybe turn a few heads. This is South Africa’s only nudist beach, very popular among youngsters and holiday goers curious to try out everything at least once. Of course, the beach is also popular for sunbathing, swimming or just to enjoy the gorgeous natural flow of the Atlantic Sea before you. It is recommended that you allow time to find parking, and so arriving early is usually best. Be sure to bring some refreshments along but also keep in mind that there are no ablution facilities at Sandy Beach.
