A landmark in the stunning coastal neighborhood of Sea Point in Cape Town, the Pavilion Swimming Pool has been a popular beach-front attraction since the 1950's, and draws in crowds of families and friends during summer to cool off and enjoy the facilities, where there is plenty of space for everyone.
This iconic public pool is considered by many to be the best in the country. The main swimming pool is a massive, olympic sized swimming pool (50m length) which draws its main source of water from the neighbouring Atlantic Ocean and is filtered with as little chlorine as possible, managing to maintain a temperature that is about 10° warmer than the frigid and unwelcoming ocean itself. The Sea Point Pavilion is a treat for visiting families to enjoy during some of Cape Towns hottest months (usually between November and February), and is well kept and cared for.
Other than the large main swimming pool, there is also a diving pool, fun pool and a more shallow kiddies pool. During the busy times and throughout school holidays and peak seasons, there are lifeguard's on duty. If you are planning to spend a family day at this lovely public swimming facility, feel free to pack a picnic and get cozy while the kids have a blast, and don't forget to bring along towels, sunscreen and sun hats. There is also a cash tuck shop available.
