A small and lovely town that can be discovered in the Olifants Rivier Valley of the Western Cape, Clanwilliam has been recorded as one of the 10 oldest towns in South Africa, most famous for being the only village where one of our countries most unique tea blends, Rooibos, is planted and cultivated. Clanwilliam is a wonderful countryside escape, offering guests a unique experience.

Among the Namaqualand wild flowers and enjoying the backdrop of the Cederberg Mountain range, Clanwilliam is a wonderful family friendly village, perfect for serene countryside escapes with loved ones. There is so much to do in this area, from exploring the towns many historical monuments and charming little restaurants, farm stalls and stores to visiting interesting sites, such as an old jail building that has been converted into a museum and even an aged settler’s house from the year 1820. The local empowerment programme of the Clanwilliam Living Landscape Project introduces visitors as well as locals to experience paintings and motifs of the bushmen. Also worth visiting are the Cederberg Wine Cellar, and a few exciting hiking trails to reconnect everyone with nature. There are a few lovely art galleries and casual coffee shops lined up in the town centre, allowing for all to experience the small city lifestyle together. Clanwilliam is also famous for its Wild Flower show, taking place every year in August of September, when flowers liven up the landscapes in colourful and fragrant displays.
