Stellenbosch is a historically and naturally rich town in the Western Cape, being the second European settlement in the region, and is synonymous with the wine industry in South Africa. Upon entering the town, travellers can enjoy a welcome of seemingly endless lines of oak trees, which were imported by the town's founder, Simon van der Stel.
A fair number of restaurants and cafés are available in Stellenbosch, however, its main attraction is its wine route, with close to 200 alluring estates for guests to explore. Attractions and activities available in and around the town include hiking, nature conservancies and reserves, markets, fly fishing, mountain biking, museums and safaris.
