The Cape Town Stadium

During the FiFa world cup of 2010, the Cape Town Stadium was known as the Green Point Stadium as it was constructed on the site of the original Green Point Stadium for the main purpose of the soccer world cup. This stadium is beautifully situated to offer views of the majestic Table Mountain, Signal Hill and also of the vast Atlantic Ocean, and is used to host a number of sporting events and entertaining shows all through the year, and is also home to the Cape Town Foot Ball Club, The Ajax and is also hosts the South African Seven's Rugby Tournament. The Cape Town stadium can accommodate up to 55 000 spectators in its confines, and was designed to be utilized at any time of the year, regardless of the weather or rainfall - it features an open roof so that visitors can enjoy the fresh ocean air and natural light, while still offering protection from rain and strong winds with thick glass panels. The strong night lights bring the stadium to life in the evening, illuminating this massive and well crafted stadium. This impressive stadium took over 33 months to construct and has a whopping 900 toilets, 300 lifts and 115 entry turnstiles and was proudly constructed using improved methods that use green building initiatives.
