About Cape Point
The place where the Indian and Atlantic oceans meet. The place where the long stretch of land known to man as Africa comes to a fringe. The place where indigenous plantation are abundant and wild life is sacred. A place filled with history stretching back to 1488 when Portuguese nobleman Bartholomew Dias dubbed this beautiful reserve Cape Of Storms (Later renamed to Cape of Good Hope by King John II of Portugal).
Cape Point is the most South-Western point of the African continent and is majestic in its own right. Besides the beautiful scenery, Cape Point has ample things to do and see while engrossing yourself to the magnificent wonders of nature. Whether it be riding the Flying Dutchman Funicular up to the viewing point of Cape Point, having lunch with the family at the Two Oceans Restaurants or shopping for souvenirs at the Cape Point shops, this landmark promises to be an unforgettable one. Being rich in history, Cape Point has monuments and historical areas that are dedicated to past explorers such as Bartholomew Dias and Vasco De Gama, thus a trip down here would be clear window to Cape Town's founding fathers. In addition to all the above, Cape Point is home to more than 1100 indigenous plant species, 250 different types of bird species, the Cape mountain zebra, the world's largest antelope and a shipwreck trail of a few of the shipwrecks recorded around Cape Point.
Activities such as sea kayaking, mountain biking and a wide variety of hiking trails could also be, to name but few, of the many things to experience at Cape Point.
Perhaps the essence of life lies not in our day to day life, but in the beautiful wonders nature has to show us. Wonders such as Cape Point promising to be one of the most exhilarating experiences life has to offer!
