Melkbosstrand

Melkbosstrand is a little village, but given that it is only 35km from the city center, many people consider it to be a suburb of Cape Town. Locals love Melkbosstrand because it offers hours of beach walking, surfing, breathtaking sunsets that rival most sunsets and the frequently photographed panorama of Table Mountain and Robben Island. The Koeberg nuclear power station, which was built with the help of the British and the French, 6km north of Melkbos and required housing for foreign contractors, is what gives the village its unromantic reputation of white beaches, excellent seafood served at neighbourhood restaurants and one of the most popular kitesurfing beaches.
