Grotto Bay

On the R27 south of Darling, Grotto Bay is a nearby coastal bay that is quite close to the Grotto Bay Private Nature Reserve. It is only a short drive from Cape Town. Grotto Bay is undoubtedly one of the closest villages to Cape Town if experiencing nature is what you're after. There are kilometers of shoreline and the Cape West Coast Biosphere Reserve, established by UNESCO in 2000, includes the Grotto Bay Coastal and Nature Reserve. This specific biosphere covers 378 000 hectares of coastal lowland plains and spans north from Cape Town's Diep River all the way to the Berg River close to Velddrif. And if the beach with the natural beauty of the area is not enough to keep you entertained, nearby Mamre, with its old Moravian mission station, Darling and its reachable wine farms, or the lovely village of Philadelphia, offer fantastic adventures.
