Franschhoek

Franschoek, the French corner of the Cape, is located in one of the world's most picturesque wine valleys, only 45 minutes from Cape Town and within 30 minutes of the Stellenbosch, Paarl, Wellington and Somerset West wine routes. One would find it difficult to argue against the claim that this historically French town is the nation's cuisine and wine center. There are nearly 30 wine cellars and more than 28 restaurants to select from for your dining experience, which is home to eight of the top 100 restaurants in the country. The town of Franschoek is home to a superb selection of eateries and coffee shops, as well as art and antique shops and galleries. It is simple to spend a day here and it is a great starting point for exploring other wine routes and the Four Passes Fruit Route, of which Franschoek is also a part. For those who are more active, there are a number of hiking paths in the nearby mountains.
