In a little less than 2 months, locals and visitors can enjoy the annual Paternoster Seafood Festival for the 3rd time. In the preceding years, this festival has taken place in some of the most breathtaking venues in Paternoster and this year, on November the 28th, the event will occur at the Besterskraal farm, where visitors can enjoy fantastic views that include the fishing village of Paternoster, the ocean and Britannia Bay.
As the name of the festival implies, this is an event that is mainly about what Paternoster is famous for: seafood. An astounding amount of stalls have been secured for the festival, with seafood and traditional dishes, arts and crafts, wine stalls and so much more.
While seafood is the main attraction, this festival promises to be as fun as the last one, if not more so, with something for the entire family. Besides the stalls, there will be plenty for the kids to do and there is live entertainment, featuring well-known and up-and-coming South African artists, who have performed at the Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees (KKNK), on the radio stations of Bok Radio and RSG and on many other platforms.
The food
Paternoster is famous for its seafood, and as always, visitors can look forward to tasty snoek barbecues, seafood poitjiekos (literally translated as “small pot food”) and last but not least, delicious crayfish.
For the kids
There will be a supervised kids entertainment area, complete with a jumping castle, peddling cars, face painting, petting zoo and horse riding. There is a cost for entering the festival; the details will be provided towards the end of this post. In addition to this entry fee, parents can leave their children in this area for the cost of R 10.00. There will be something prepared for the adults as well.
For the adults
While their kids are are having fun under supervision, adults can just sit back and relax in the nearby Beer Garden while enjoying the live entertainment on stage.
The live entertainment
MC duties for the day will be taken up by Waldo Lotz, the popular Afrikaans singer from Paarl, who is famous for his renditions of timeless favourites but even more so for his own original work, including hits such as “Die Paarl is ‘n wonderlike plek” and “Hoor hoe klop my hart”.
The entertainers joining him on stage will be the likes of the popular Jennifer Zamudio, the exciting new group of Die Wildberries, as well as Amore Rudman, David van der Merwe, Danea D (Bok Radio), Wicus le Roux (KKNK) and Daniel Jack.
